We’re almost through “May-hem” and summer is on the horizon!
How can we make the most of our summer and still build in time for rest?
Dr. Dalton Smith suggests that rest isn’t just about getting more sleep and recommends Seven Types of Rest that can restore and refresh:
Physical Rest:
How can you get both passive (sleeping) and active (gentle exercise, massage, etc.) physical rest?
Mental Rest:
When can you practice mindfulness, take a short break, or disconnect from technology to reduce mental fatigue?
Sensory Rest:
During which parts of your day can you create a calm, peaceful environment by minimizing noise, bright lights, and other distractions?
Creative Rest:
How do you stay inspired and allow yourself to be filled by the beauty around you?
Emotional Rest:
Where is your safe place to process emotions in a healthy way?
Social Rest:
How can you cultivate meaningful connections with friends and family to foster a sense of belonging and community?
Spiritual Rest:
What reflective practices will nourish your soul and provide a sense of purpose and meaning?
Here's to a summer of rest, rejuvenation, and personal growth!
